The motivation behind "Horny OFF MAIN" podcast and what you can expect
We saw it happen to friends. Colleagues. Partners even. Somehow you never think it will be you. But here we are. A pair of nerds with a podcast. Happens to the best of us, but you’re still never quite prepared.
What’s the show?
It’s called Horny OFF MAIN. Because we’re horny. And we live off of Main Street. But also, because we’re interested in the behaviours people keep “off main.”
If you value yourself enough to not be online all day*, you might not be familiar with the expression “Horny ON Main” – a term used when someone displays sexually charged behaviour on their main social media accounts, as opposed to a private account. We’re interested in the different ways people compartmentalize behaviours and the things we enjoy but aren’t always proud to be public (i.e. “on main”) about. We’re also interested in the process of coming to terms with those things or how the feelings around what should be kept secret/off main change over time.

So…is it a sex show?
It is a sexy show (we can’t help ourselves, not sorry). But it’s not a sex show. Again, if you have the good sense and strength of character to not live your life tied to social media (Honestly, kudos. What is that like? Is it freeing? Do you have hobbies and proper sleep habits? Is there a skylight? I’m picturing natural light. Also, how did you find this blog? Did a cool older cousin slip it to you inside a Highlights magazine?) you might have missed that the word “horny” has had a real glow up.
Horny’s Makeover
The word “horny” used to be awkward. Kinda gross. It evoked images of socks shamefully discarded. Couch cushions quaked at its mention. But “Horny” got its braces off, got contacts and a blow out and has descended the stairs “She’s All That” style to stand in for optimistic desire. She’s fun now.
Horny’s become a chic date. You can be horny for fusion tacos. Or affordable housing. Or lightweight breathable outerwear. Or keep it more traditional and be horny for Brie Larson to bowl you over on a BMX.
Horny’s got range.
In the words of writer Kayla Kibbe:
"Essentially, our current horny moment is a reckless confession and embrace of desire in the face of near certain disappointment, if not utter demise. In these unstable times, the future is at best uncertain, and more often simply terrifying. But in the meantime, at least the present is horny."
In addition to people’s “Off Main” behaviour, we want to know - and celebrate - all that you’re horny for right now.
We’re horny for connection. We’re horny for fun hangs. We’re horny to create something and we’re supremely horny for you to be a part of it.
We’re also embarrassed about all of it. But we’re working on that.
